Why to visit Rumtek Monastery

Rumtek monastery is a renowned tourist attraction in Gangtok, Sikkim. The monastery is part of the Kagyu Buddhist sect, which first arrived in Tibet in the 12th century. The style and structure are similar to the one in Tsurphu, Tibet. The main temple is a four-story structure with Tibetan-style murals and a golden sculpture on top. The shrine hall is ornamented with silk banners and thangkas, and it includes a ten-foot-high statue of Sakyamuni Buddha as well as countless holy literature. Rumtek Monastery is located near Gangtok in the Dharma Chakra Centre. Make a point of stopping by here during your visit to Gangtok and bring back some pleasant memories.
