Why to visit Lal Bazaar , Gangtok
You only have to walk a few minutes down from the magnificent MG Marg to reach Gangtok's bustling market, Lal Bazaar. Since its inception in 1956, this shoppers' paradise has been regarded as one of Gangtok's greatest shopping destinations. However, in 2005, the entire market was demolished to make way for a massive shopping complex. The shopping complex was built around a vegetable market and given the name Kachendzonga Shopping Complex later on. Incense sticks, electrical gadgets, cottage cheese, rural things, organic veggies, and other items make up a significant portion of the items sold here.

It is highly suggested that you visit Lal Bazaar on Sunday since you will see the place at its most colourful!
