Why to visit St Paul's Church
St. Paul's Church is the biggest and only operating church in Diu, which is a Union Territory of India. The church, which is known around the globe for its exquisite Jesuit architecture created by Indian craftsmen, features rich wood engravings, a magnificent facade, interesting volutes, and shell-like designs.
The picture of St. Mary is composed of a single block of Burmese teak, and the altar is bordered and illuminated with 101 candles. A white and blue barrel-vaulted aisle rises above the altar, filled with precious ancient artworks and sculptures. The façade of the church, which features carved decorations in white stucco created by local artists, is just as spectacular as the interior in terms of design intricacy.
It was built in 1601 AD and dedicated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. The cathedral mesmerises with its magnificent artistry, which bears a striking resemblance to the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa. It's a soul-soothing sensation to sit in complete stillness in a stunningly beautiful church illuminated up by lights.
The church sits on India's west coast, on the island of Diu. It is well connected by roadways and is easily accessible by taxi or car.
