Why to visit Lotus Temple

One of the seven Baha'i temples around the world is located in New Delhi. It has a round, 9-sided structure, just like all other Baha'i temples.

With its stunning white petals and lotus-like shape, it creates for a breath-taking spectacle and draws countless tourists all year long. This temple or Bahai House of Worship does not permit ceremonial rites, in contrast to the majority of other houses of worship.

Architecture of Lotus Temple:

  • The Lotus Temple's design features nine repetitions of each unique component.
  • The temple has one main hall, which serves as the primary location for prayer and worship, and nine pools, one in front of each of the outer petals, which stand in for the leaves of the lotus flower.
  • The nine water features serve more than merely as ornaments. They are essential to the massive structure's ventilation and help to keep the region cool even in the hottest months of the year.
  • While the following group of "Outer Leaves" opens inward, the nine "Entrance Leaves," or the outermost petals, unfold outward. These two sets of petals as well as the main nine-petaled bud cover the deepest sanctuary.
  • The Lotus Temple features a fantastic ventilation system, which keeps the air within clean.
  • A comfortable temperature is always maintained inside the Lotus Temple thanks to its superb ventilation system, which recycles the air inside the temple.
