The Chicago Cultural Institution, the first free municipal cultural centre in the country, is one of Chicago's most popular tourist destinations. The majestic landmark structure, which housed the city's first public library when it opened in 1897, boasts two gorgeous stained-glass domes and hosts hundreds of free cultural exhibits and events each year. The Tiffany dome on the structure is 38 feet in diameter .
