Why to visit The Gateway Arch
The Gateway Arch is also known as the St.Louis Arc. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the National Historic Landmarks List, both of which were established in 1987. Both the arch's height and width are 630 feet. It has a weighted catenary arch shape and is manufactured of stainless steel. The Arch, also known as "The Gateway to the West," is a National Historic Landmark in Gateway Arch National Park. It was built as a memorial to the westward expansion of the United States and was officially dedicated to "the American people." It is also thought to be the tallest man-made structure in the Western Hemisphere. It is now a well-known tourist site as well as an internationally recognized emblem of St. Louis.
