Why to visit Velankanni Church
Velankanni Church, on the Coromandel Coast, 350 km south of Chennai and 12 km south of Nagapattinam, is regarded one of India's holiest Christian pilgrimage locations. Around the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus are supposed to have appeared here, and Velankanni became a renowned site for the Christian community. The Pope has declared it a sacred city, and it attracts pilgrims from all around the world. The Virgin Mary and the Heavenly Mother are the exclusive patrons of the church. The church's believers believe that Lady of Health, also known as the Madonna of Velankanni, has miraculous abilities. People of all religions, castes, and creeds pay their respects to the noble lady at the church.
You can attend the daily mass at the church, which is held in Tamil, English, and Malayalam.
