Why to visit Sowcarpet

Sowcarpet, also known as Chennai's Mini Rajasthan, is a multi-lined retail district with a plethora of tiny shops selling sarees, lehengas, textiles, churidars, cholis, salwar suits, kurtis, and fashion accessories inspired by the country's northern regions. This market is in the northern section of Chennai, in Peddanaickenpet, George Town, and is predominantly populated by North Indians. Here you may get stunning ready-to-wear clothing. This is one of those places where language isn't an issue; most of the shops are from the north, so speaking in Hindi or Tamil isn't a problem.

Special Tip

The streets are extremely congested. Avoid driving to this location. It can become extremely congested, and you don't want to get stuck in it.
