Why to visit Butterfly Park

The Butterfly Park in Chandigarh's Sector 26 is a pleasure for nature lovers, with a beautiful collection of more than 35 species of butterflies. The unusually cut grass in various shapes of butterflies adds to the allure of the place.

Butterfly Park is a stunning 7-acre park with lovely landscaping. Angled Castor, Ape fly, Blue Mormon, Common Grass Yellow, Common Blue Bottle, Chocolate pansy, and Commander are just a few examples of the species of butterflies found here. There are silence zones set aside for lovely small critters so that they are not disturbed while walking along nature pathways.

This park is densely forested, with a wide range of trees and bushes. Flowers and butterflies are mutually beneficial. A variety of flowering plants, including Marigold, Petunia, Lantana, Gazenia, Salvia, Dahlia, and other species, are planted in the butterfly park to suit this requirement.  There is also a large conservatory where Entomology students can study the behaviour of these fascinating insects.

Special Tip

The best time to visit the park to see these brightly coloured butterflies is from March through October. They are visible all year, except during the winter months when they hibernate.
