Why to visit Tashichho Dzong
Tashichho Dzong is a beautiful Buddhist monastery and castle located on the banks of the Wang Chu River in Thimphu, Bhutan. Every district in Bhutan is gifted with this distinctive architecture, which is referred to as a "Fortress" in Bhutanese. A monastery and a temple are also housed in this peaceful mansion. Thimphu's Tashichho Dzong (Thimphu Dzong) is a Buddhist monastery and castle in the city's northern outskirts, near to the Wang Chu's western bank. Lama Gyalwa Lhanangpa built the monument in the year 1216 AD, and Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal purchased it in the year 1641. Lower dzong is the name given to a new section of the monastery that he built. The original dzong was destroyed by fire in 1771, and everything was relocated to the lower dzong. The Paro International Airport, which is 54 kilometres from Thimphu and takes 45 to 50 minutes to reach Tashichho Dzong, is the closest airport to this location. To go to Thimphu, book a cab from Paro International Airport. The most convenient way to get to the Tashichho Dzong is by bus. Alternatively, instead of renting a car when you arrive at Paro Airport, take one of the Thimphu-Tashichho Dzong buses. The whole travel will take approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, but it will transport you directly to the destination.
