The Choki Handicrafts Market, located just outside of the city centre, utilises local painters, carvers, and weavers to design and create traditional handicrafts and furniture. A portion of the earnings goes to the Choki Traditional Art School, which serves poor children. Paintings (particularly thangkas), masks, lama tables, various furniture, and exquisite souvenirs can all be found here. Bhutanese handicrafts are not made specifically for tourists, so you can be sure they're genuine. They're also relatively expensive compared to other Asian markets.
