Why to visit Bukhari at COMA
Bukhari, one of the most famous places to eat a Bhutanese lunch, is quite popular among visitors to Paro. The lunch menu is more cosmopolitan comfort cuisine, and the supper menu more gastronomic—a rare fine-dining treat in the Paro Valley. Executive Chef Arsa Made sources seasonal, local produce for the menus, delivering both Bhutanese and international dishes with bold flavours and serious refinement.
It is one of Bhutan's greatest restaurants, and it is located within the Hotel Uma, making it convenient for in-house guests. The ambiance is international, and the food is appealing to a wide range of customers. Try the chilli cheese (Ema Datshi), which is essentially a blend of one whole green chilli and wonderful local (melted) cheese. The food has a slight western flavour to it. The staff is kind, and a meal here is a must on any trip to Bhutan.
Bukhari, an award-winning restaurant at COMO Uma Paro, is named for the ancient Bhutanese fireplace that serves as the dramatic focal point of the restaurant's circular, pavilion-style design. This magnificent hotel is 2 kilometres from Rinpung Dzong monastery and 3 km from the National Museum of Bhutan, and is set on a forested hillside with Bhutanese-style structures. Free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and DVD players are available in the elegant, contemporary rooms, which also feature minibars, tea and coffeemaking amenities, and mountain views.
There they serve the tastiest breakfasts, and you will not be disappointed. I must recommend the scallop, which has a buttery texture, a tiny sweetness to it, and is soft.
