Why to visit Lower Lake

Bhopal, sometimes referred to as the "City of Lakes," is a wonderful blend of beautiful beauty, modernism, and traditional architecture. It has Upper Lake and Lower Lake, two of the most stunning lakes in the world. Chhota Talab is another name for the Lower Lake. Since the Lower Lake doesn't have a freshwater supply, seepage from the Upper Lake fills it. It forms comprises the Bhoj Wetland, together with Upper Lake. Despite appearing tranquil, the lakes are polluted.

History of Lower Lake

Chhote Khan, a minister in the court of Nawab Hayat Muhammad Khan Bahadur, ordered the construction of the captivating lake in 1794 to spruce up the sleepy town. This area contained a several wells that were combined to create the alluring Lower Lake. Pollution over time harmed the lake's aesthetic appeal. It presently experiences problems with sewage drainage waste, washermen cleaning clothes, and a lack of adjacent fresh water sources. Because of this, the lake has become eutrophic, rendering its water unfit for drinking.

Boating at Lower Lake

You can view Bhopal's enthralling beauty while on a boat. The atmosphere is going to delight you with its fresh wind. Many tourists are drawn to the artistically decorated lake. You may get a closer look at the lake's splendour thanks to the Boat Club. It provides parasailing, jet skiing, paddle boating, and speed boating. There are flocks of geese on the lake, and the rides start off fairly cheaply.

Some basic amenities, such as food stands, restrooms, lockers, etc. are available at Lower Lake. Also allowed are photos and videos. Accommodations are conveniently located nearby. There is no charge for admission. It is open from 9:00 AM until 6:30 PM daily. Local buses, taxis, and other vehicles are easily able to take you to the lake.
