Why to visit Viper Island

In Port, there is a Viper Island. Blair, named after the ship that brought Lt. Archibald Blair to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, now has two main structures. The gallows, which are placed atop a tiny hill and juxtapose the melancholy silence of the island with tales of valiant attempts put forth by the freedom fighters, are perched atop a small hill. The crimson edifice of the courts can plainly be seen in front of the Viper Island jetty and like the gallows, sits on the silent island, telling the world its storey. Viper Island, once one of the most popular picnic sites, has lost a little of its gloss after Tsunami.

Viper Island is accessible through a 20-minute boat ride from Port Blair's Phoenix Bay jetty. Cruise services are also provided to assist guests in getting to other portions of the island, including the prison. The Viper Island is merely a 10-minute boat ride from the jetty.

Although the island may be visited at any time of year, November and February are the best months to visit since the weather is nice and cold, with almost no humidity.
