Why to visit Chini ka Rauza

The mausoleum lies on the banks of the Yamuna River and enchants visitors with its stunning Indo-Persian architecture. Glazed glass windows are used extensively in this one-of-a-kind structure. It houses the grave of Afzal Khan, a famous poet and minister in Shah Jehan's court. When you visit, you will notice the chini tiles in various colours such as turquoise, orange, yellow, and green, which are ornamented with many paintings and inscriptions from the holy Quran. The Chini ka Rauza is a beautiful example of long-gone style and architecture, despite the enamels and inlay work fading owing to climatic conditions and the lack of restoration.

Special Tip

The monument is usually closed during national and local holidays.
