Both private and government bus and taxi services are available to Chakrata from Delhi, Dehradun, and Mussoorie. The road ways are better for the views.
3. Railways:
Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest station, 87 kms far from the city. The trains connect to Delhi, Amritsar, Howrah, Bombay, etc.
Places to visit
1. Deoban:
Deoban is very popular among the tourists because it's one such place in Chakrata where various species of birds accumulate. Nature and animal lovers, bird watchers visit in masses to experience the scenic beauty and watch unique Himalayan Woodpeckers, white collared blackbirds and Green Backed tit. The place offers one of the prettiest trekking places surrounding 55 mountains. The name Deoban is because it is full of Deodar trees.
2. Tiger Falls:
Tiger Falls is India's highest direct waterfall and gets many visitors throughout the year. The destination of many trekking ways, the sublime place to attain peace, the deep hidden in thick woods, Tiger Falls offers the best site to be in nature and experience your own company.
3. Budher Caves:
Budher Caves is famous among photographers, mountaineers and adventurous travelers. Legend says that it was dug by the Pandavas during their 12 years of exile. The interesting formation of stalagmite and stalactite is something worth experiencing.
4. Chilmiri Neck:
Chilmiri Neck is situated 4 kms from Chakrata and offers breathtaking views of the far mountains which are not usually seen. Bandarpoonch, Rohini, and Swarg Peaks are some of the mountain peaks visible from the place covered with dense Deodars. 5. Ram Tal Horticultural Garden:
Ram Tal Horticultural Garden is a unique habitat placed in the mountains, with views. It is situated 9 kms away from the city in the Chakrata-Mussoorie Road. You can spot Black Headed Jay, Gray Treepie and Oriental Turtle Dove. Different kinds of dense and thick trees cover the place. Apple Garden is the major attraction of this place.
