Dainkund Peak: Trek To The Hill That Sings


At a height of 2755 m, Dainkund Peak, also called the Singing Hill, is the highest point in Dalhousie. It is well known for its colorful flower valleys. 

  • The 4.5 km trek is an easy, moderate walk that takes you through verdant fir and deodar forests. 

  • After passing through Lakkar Mandi, the ascent to the Dainkund begins.

  • Major draws for Dainkund Peak include the Pholani Devi temple and an air force.

    Best Time To Visit: April to June

    Exploration Time: 2 to 3 hours (including the trek)

    Nearby Hotels: Snow Valley Resorts (5 km), Best Western Dalhousie (5 km) 

    Tips: Bring warm clothing because the temperature rises at the peak. If you decide to go trekking, be sure you have the right gear, including hiking boots.

    How To Reach: You can easily rent a taxi or drive yourself to Dainkund Peak. However, trekking is yet another excellent choice to spice up your journey. The ideal location for camping is two km from the peak.
